JPHILLY |
He grew up a shy and insecure boy running away from people who enlist his name every time there is a contest in there town. He was too scared to perform in public - on stage where the town’s people would watch him. Lack of confidence made him repulsive from joining any contest or doing public performance. Not knowing that his talent for Rapping coupled with his songwriting skill would soon be his instruments in paving his own journey and creating his life-story.
Now, JPhilly is the voice behind the popular song C.A.V.I.T.E as most people would call it. He is a rapper, singer-songwriter and music arranger. He started his career in 2000, the rap group CBP, Cavite Born Playaz, was born of which JPHILLY was a part of. He has been seen front acting for known artists such as Francis Magalona, Andrew E. and Death Threat. He also entered various rap contests, Eat Bulaga's RAPUBLIC w/ Kiko, RAP2K, and many more; however he didn’t win in any of these. In 2004, JPHILLY decided to break up with the love of his life [music] to continue on with his studies. As we all know, love is sweeter the second time around, JPHILLY gave rap another try. This time with a new attitude, he focused on rapping about something more sensible. In January 09, he began writing the song popularly known as, C.A.V.I.T.E. After a few months after its release over the internet, many people noticed that the way he rapped had a different message and different style. Due to his nationalistic views and his natural gift, he started the process of producing his own solo album. After many weeks of thinking, he came up with the title "Walang Imposible" (Nothing is Impossible). This album will open the eyes of a blind mind. It is not an easy task entering the world of rap, with its times of despair and self-doubt, he still managed to stay focus on his true love.
AS A SONG WRITTER
He worked with various artist such as Andrew E., Francis Magalona, Death Threat, Gloc9, Ely Buendia & Lougie Basabas. After finishing the “Walang Imposible” album as a form of respect prior to his entrance to the Pinoy Hip-Hop scene, he paid a visit to Andrew E.’s (founder of Dongalo Records) home and was given advice and tips on how the music industry works. “Madalas naman kami mag front act sa mga Mall shows ni Francis M. noon kasama ko ang buong group Cavite Born Playaz, 2004 naman nung naka trabaho ko sa isang album ang Death Threat most specially ang leader/founder ng group na si “Ron Beware” Salanga together with Sir Ely Buendia of Pupil. I wrote some of the lines for the lyrics of the single UWAK that was released under CANDID Records. 2010 nung makasama ko si Gloc9 concert caravan ng isang politiko sa buong district 1. June2010 nung gawin naming ni Lougee Basabas ng Delara ang CAVITE remix na gagamitin sana para sa 2010 Kalayaan Celebration sa Kawit Cavite.” - JPHILLY
